hi all
so me (20f) and my bf (21m) have been sexually actively with eachother for a few months. He lost his virginity to me whereas he was my 2nd.
We use condoms as a form of protection. I have suffered with chronic yeast infections in the past (I had 13 in one year) which we found out were being caused by condoms/ lubes containing glycerine (which is an ingredient that can feed yeast). Most condom/ lube brands have this ingredient in their products, so our options for condoms/lubes are incredibly limited. I have only been able to find one condom brand that works for us which are glycerin-free (we are UK-based).
Anyways, since having sex, my boyfriend has had issues with going soft when wearing a condom. He has quite a wide girth so we tried out several different sizes and found the best and comfortable size for him is the ones with a ‘nominal width’ of 64mm (i believe the average condom has a nominal width of 54mm for reference).
He states that it isn’t the size of the condoms, but he is struggling to feel sensation with the condom on during sex, which makes him go soft or just unable to orgasm. He has orgasmed a few times from sex but most times we have had sex, he has not been able to.
I have tried birth control (the pill) with my previous sexual partner and despised it. It made me chronic yeast infections (which at the time, I didn’t know was caused by condoms/lube) even worse and the symptoms were heightened. I cant help but feel like I am taking so many risks with weight gain, cancer, hormone changes, that it isn’t worth it, especially as my periods are always healthy and always regular and I want to keep it that way.
I did consider the copper coil as it was the only non-hormonal birth control, but hearing the horror stories of the insertion process, and how some women’s periods get worse with it in (even after a few months) makes me not want to get it.
My boyfriends agrees with me on the birth control, and thinks that it is too potentially detrimental to my health compared to his issue of not feeling anything during sex. We can’t find any condoms with a ‘thinner feel’ either as our condom choices are so limited. So I just wondered if anyone had any advice on how we could solve this issue?
Aside this, the sex is great and our sexual drives are very similar.
Thanks!
