How to handle failing probation? /u/codeandglitter CSCQ protests reddit

Last year I landed a seemingly perfect job after searching for months. However two weeks ago they informed me that I did not pass my 6 month probation period and now i’m desperate. I really gave it my all but they hired me and another hire and apparently they were the better fit for the role.

What I want to know is how should one approach failing their 6 month long probation when it comes to interviewing and CV. If I leave it out my CV will have a huge gap, but I don’t know how to present this in a positive way during an interview. Who would even want to hire someone who failed probation? I don’t plan on lying cause that might make things even worse as the interviewer can easily check with my past employer.

Has anyone ever been in a similar situation and managed to bounce back? This isn’t my first job mind you, as I’ve previously worked at two companies, one of which only hired me for a year long project and the other went bankrupt after a few months. Essentially, my CV looks chaotic and I don’t know how to fix that. Any advice is appreciated.
