Hello, I’ve been self teaching web dev for about 1-2 years now and due to a few periods of stopping due to life getting in the way I’m still a ways out from being ready to start applying for jobs. Though I’m kind of feeling discouraged about the outlook of my future as a web dev, I’ve been reading about how it’s been massively oversaturated since I’ve began learning a couple years ago and with the massive amount of junior devs and limited jobs going around – especially for people without CS degrees, I’m really not sure if it’s worth it to keep going the next 3-6 months until I’d be ready to start applying for real jobs. I’d love to hear some advice from people with more knowledge about the state of the industry than I have if possible, I don’t want to give up software development all together but I’m not sure if web stuff is going to be worth it at this point. Would Mobile dev or something more like embedded systems be worth looking into as something with less of such a massive oversaturation? My only other plan besides switching would be to just buckle down and become as hirable/appealing to jobs as I can be and try to stick out a bit amongst the crowd. I currently work for $14 an hour in the food industry so I’m desperate to take any higher paying tech job that I could get my hands on to get my feet wet in the industry. Thank you for any advice
