Say you were working as IT support, system analyst, accountant etc and managed to get into a SWE role, how did you do it given how gatekept the industry is? How did you get past the HR wall and convince hiring managers to give you a chance when you have zero prior SWE experience? I’ve always seen and heard that projects are next to useless so for those who got a SWE role without prior experience what sort of socery did you do to get in?
