Always bring dung pods on Rathalos quests. /u/Temnodontosaurus Monster Hunter: World

Started farming High Rank Rathalos and Diablos for armor in order to prepare for Deviljho and Nergigante, as well as wean me off the Guardian and Defender gear. Diablos was pretty easy, but during the Rathalos quest, I was besieged by Rathalos, Rathian, that electric snake I can’t spell off the top of my head, AND Deviljho. It’s a miracle I didn’t cart once, though I came extremely close several times.

Lesson learned, always bring dung pods. And a huge thanks to Deviljho for body-slamming Rathalos and taking away 570 health. Couldn’t have done it without Pickle Rex’s help. Which brings me to another lesson. To quote Dr. Serizawa: “Let them fight.”

I’d also like to thank Rathalos himself for accidentally landsliding himself, which allowed me to get many good strikes on him. Unfortunately, it also led me straight to his wife, who then proceeded to follow him everywhere, just as a protective lover should when their spouse is getting stalked and assaulted by a tiny creature wielding an axe. As I said, always bring dung pods, because even the most dedicated and protective spouse will throw their lover to the wolves if you smear a bit of poop on their nose.
