How do the military know that their nuclear weapons work? /u/r0bbyr0b2 No such thing as stupid questions

Say USA for example, have ICBMs in bunkers, on aircraft and in subs. How do they know that the ICBMs will launch and detonate as expected?

I imagine USA test somehow, but what about states like Russia with ride corruption – how do they know they will actually work?
