Born up in 60ties. Nobody in my “home” used sewing machine, one that was there was thrown in garbage around me be 10 years old. Grow up and did workout with weight and pull ups. From 20ties to today 60 I had always chest circumference around 45″ and waist 32″ and today 36″.
However I wasn’t capable to show it as I always carried square shirts and loose pants. Decade was passing and in 2017 under influence of late misc.bodubuilding I went to tailor to take side seam of some shirts in. However whit shirt on me tailor would bite just little in and ask me if is ok take so much in and I would say yes and when would come home it would be meh. Finally in 2022 I figured out that I should do arch with reference point and Dritz tailoring ruler. Finally I have some shirts that look on me well, not perfect but good enough.
Then I started to think about jeans and I figured out that I need 12″ across tight measurement and 12″ from outer side seam to crotch curve. I admit that jeans is much more difficult to understand with measurement but I’m on way. I switched from Levis 569 to 505. Problem was that I always needed “extra space in seat” but with little carrying on 505 made space too.
So learn to draft side seam of shirts if you want good fitting shirts. And learn to use serger.
