Reading surge during SP services meter change.

Has anyone experienced this before? Had our electricity meter changed on 02 Oct as part of advance meter roll out exercise and I was later shocked to see that the estimated meter readings were about 3 times our monthly average! Although this was taken into account in the bill of November later… the average between October and November was still more than twice our monthly average.

I called SP to check and was told the cumulative figures of the last reading done on 19Sep and the final meter reading at the date of change which is 2Oct. Basically, the difference between these 2 readings amounted to about 1150kWh. That is more than double our monthly average cumulated in just 14 days.

There have been no major changes in our electrical usual and no addition of any new appliances. Also, our monthly usage falls back to the usual average for the following months in Dec and Jan.

Not sure if anyone else have experienced this as well? SP has not been helpful at all, keep falling back to those were our metered readings and we have averaged out the following month…
