Help with deciding my career path /u/lol_monkey CSCQ protests reddit

In need of advice on how to continue my career…

Context: I am a 23 year old living in NYC, graduated with a Bachelors in CS back in 2023. After nearly a 1 year job hunt, I snagged a job.

Currently working at a well-known, non-tech company, the job is usually pretty relaxed, but certain teams and almost all of management are very stress inducing. Not a big issue though.

My problem is the job itself. My title is Integrations Consultant, and I work with the HR system Workday. I’ve been feeling that this role is far removed from what most people in tech are focusing on, especially for career growth. I feel like I’m pigeonholing myself into this and the experience I’m gaining wont apply to more experienced roles in the future.

There are obvious reasons I won’t leave. The pay is great ($100,000) and it took me so long to get a job that I don’t wanna let it go. I’ve only got half a year so far at the company, but I’ve already begun searching around.

What do you think? Am I pigeonholing myself? Should I be searching or focus on where I am? And as far as the search goes, what roles will my experience apply to? I’m struggling to find anything entry level, so I need a hand to point me in the right direction of what/where I should be applying to.
