This is in response to a earlier post that “More support on the way to help Singaporeans cope with the cost of living.”

I argue that when MPs, ministers and “mayors” earn 10-20 times the average salary of a Singaporean and living in GCB, how can I trust them to know the issues and struggles of the common man?

Especially when they are so richly rewarded for giving handouts like we are beggars during election time.

I can never understand why do we need these mayors or why our MPs need to have their pay pegged with the top private sector when they literally are public servants. (On top of being board members in several companies and organisations and receiving director’s fees)

It makes their promises and support feel vulgar. If all it takes is $300 to buy loyalty from Singaporeans, we do deserve the predicament we find ourselves in.
