My takeaway from the Return of Covid (Spoilers!) /u/ObjectiveDeparture51 South Park

This my takeaway as I relate myself to the trilogy.

I marathoned the whole 23 seasons of south park in one go in 2019 and noticed the drop in quality in the later seasons. I didn’t know that it was the burnout talking but I stayed away from anything south park related until now and I decided to watch the covid trilogy.

I know the ending with the characters in the timeskip got the fandom in shambles like in Haikyuu (don’t even ask), but I just want to focus in this part, in how covid made us all confused, lost, angry. Just after the lockdowns, my family was torn apart and I hated my parents. Maybe if I just watched this episode back then, perhaps I would’ve learned to just cut everyone some slack.

I felt crying when I saw this scene where despite everything, Stan found it in himself to forgive Randy. Because Stan realized in the end, like the song in the background was saying (man I love how the song fit so much): “if I hate you, what does that do?” As we saw on the special, Kyle’s life revolved on hating Cartman like how Stan’s life was all about hating what his Father did to them, and Stan and Kyle hated each other even when they grew up. Now what did all of that do? It made them all miserable.

I love how the Trey and Matt wanted the specials to become a medium for this heartwarming message.
