To start, I am a college student that has never had any experience making apps or CS things related to money. I made a simple HTML “app” that asks for information and images to be sent to Google Sheets. It will then generate a PDF file with all the information it was given, and all the images uploaded. They plan to use it as something to track down the expenses of the company he owns by sending the HTML file to different devices/workers. I used Javascript and the Google Apps script to make that happen. He has already given me 100$ as a downpayment and I’ve given maybe around 100 hours to make this all work (give me a break I am pretty bad at coding). I’d just like to let you know that we are in a third-world country so the pay would be somewhat lower I guess? All the features were requested by him (the features were revised probably around 5 times as he might want something replaced, added, or improved after I show him the finished product. For example, changing the layout, or changing the format of the control number, etc…). This is something I worked on during our semestrial break. How much would you think should I, as a college student get paid for something like this? Or perhaps I was already paid enough considering the complexity of the project, which is just a basic HTML that does things?
The app’s features
To put the project content into better words, it’s like a request form for purchases, which will then be manually approved in the Google Sheets, with the generated PDF file acting as some kind of receipt. The PDF file link from Google Drive will be displayed in the Google Sheets. This has an email system (not OAuth) and a set encrypted password in case the file leaks out. I know for a fact that the HTML file’s code can be accessed, thus making me encrypt the password in order to hide the actual readable password. Just praying that the person wouldn’t know how to remove the password system altogether (lmao). There are also features like saving the email set to the localstorage, and the generation of control numbers. This all has around ~1k lines of code altogether, but probably not accurate as I press enter a lot.
