I started my tech journey working in HW as an RF test engineer and later went to design boards.
Overall worked 7 years in HW, 2 of which were in Nvidia.
2 years ago I switched to software, I still very much in love with it.
I also moved to Canada from outside of north America about a year ago.
I started an online CS degree at the university of Florida with my career switch and will probably be graduating in Dec 2026.
My problem is that I feel stuck working for mid companies and want to get a in FAANG/ FAANG adjacent. I feel the most motivated out of my team and try to keep learning and improving, money is also a consideration.
I thought of even trying to secure an internship using my university resources but I have a wife and kid to support.
Otherwise I don’t know anyone in Canada in this sector as a newcomer who lives outside the “big” tech hubs.
Any ideas how to go about it?
Thank you.
