Some context, I”m pretty confident with long form campaigns but struggle with one shots or shorter time frame gaming. I’m one of those Sunday brunch games don’t end until till 8 pm type DMs. I like to let players to have fun, to chat, to be friends and go on tangents. So, I’ve started going to D&D newbies events in my area to focus up on areas where I struggle. The constructive dialogue has been wonderful, but tonight I noticed something.
If a players sits on my side of the table, especially to my right, I don’t pay as much attention to them… A player in front of me to the right, no problem. But anyone directly next to me, fucking invisible until I realize they haven’t said anything for 10+ minutes.
The fix is easy right, don’t sit on the wide side of a table, but it’s fucking weird. Maybe it’s from my time in Vampire the Masquerade, where as the Story Teller, I’d have my Rules lawyer friend sit next to me to help with checks, but that seems like a long shot. Does anybody else have weird DM ticks?
