Why don’t doctors just run a metal detector over patients before putting them in an MRI machines? /u/Desecr8or No such thing as stupid questions

I’ve heard so many horror stories about what happens when people bring metal objects into MRI machines, including butt plugs and firearms. Couldn’t this be stopped with an ordinary device most security guards have?
