why do chartreuse and vermillion seem like they should be the other way around? /u/Tough-Cup-7753 No such thing as stupid questions

for those who don’t know, chartreuse is a bright yellowish green and vermillion is a bright red colour. i often see people say they feel like the names should be swapped round as each suits the other colour more. i agree with this, but why does it make sense? i’ve never thought about other colours like this
