I went to a poor public school in a small town. We would get minimum 4 visits each year from middle school to high school from military recruiters. Teaching us about the benefits of joining the military, holding contests in the gymnasium about athleticism, and having booths set up in our cafeteria giving away trinkets to try and get you to sign up to their programs and spam-lists. Hell, they would literally pause HALF of a school’s day of work just to jam into our heads “the military will save you from your poor lives!” I always figured they targeted schools like mine because of the poor demographic. Is it true? What are your own experiences with the military while attending a more prestigious school? Did they even try?
