VR headsets aren’t detected by the hardware survey unless they’re plugged in and in active use /u/Critical-String8774 Steam on Reddit

I’ve read on a ton of articles that VR users on Steam are a hyper minority, with as low as 1% of users even having one… According to the hardware survey. When I took the survey, I had to get up and physically plug in my Quest 3 to have it be detected, despite using it on my PC every day via Air Link. I think the majority of VR users just can’t be bothered to make sure Steam actually detects their headset, shrinking the numbers below what they should be. People should take the survey results with a pinch of salt; VR users are definitely a minority, but if they’re seen as THAT insignificant, why would developers ever make VR games?

Just a bit of a rant as a believer in VR.
