Xbox Elite Series 2 Back Grips with Steam Input /u/Psionatix Steam on Reddit

I can’t seem to post on /r/SteamInput without requesting access.

I stumbled upon this old thread which seems to indicate that you should be able to re-map the back grip buttons on the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller via the Steam Input controller layout. This comment also seems to indicate it should be possible.

  • “Enable Steam Input for Xbox controllers” toggled on
  • “Xbox Extended Feature Support Driver” installed
  • Controller is currently on the latest firmware as I tried updating it via the Xbox Accessories App first

As per the threads and comments I’ve found, I’ve ensured my controller does not have a profile selected (no lights).

I’m playing Metaphor: Refantazio, the game supports and uses Steam Input. When I open the steam overlay and go to controllers, it looks like it’s downloaded a default layout for the game. When I edit that layout and I set the back grip buttons to either be “Take Screenshot” or “F12” (keyboard screenshot button), when I press them in game, nothing happens.

Am I missing something?
