When flying, if there is an empty seat in your row, would you move over and leave the middle seat empty? /u/Skemcowski No such thing as stupid questions

I was recently on a flight by myself.

The flight attendants have made it very clear that this is a FULL flight. I am seated first, in the window seat. I now wait to see which strangers will be my row mates. A gentleman, about my age (27) takes the seat next to me. The plane is getting fuller and fuller and nobody has claimed the aisle seat. I’m teased with the idea that it could possibly remain empty. I hear the flight attendants come over head saying boarding is complete. No way! This never happens. Now he can move over and we will both have more space!

He did not move over.

I say, “nice an empty seat!”

He did not respond, we never spoke again.

He remained seated next to me for the duration of the 4 hour flight.

Why sir? Why did you do that? Why did you not move over? We were given a golden ticket for more space. Do you not like to have more space? Is my “Crisp Morning Air” hand sanitizer by Bath & Body Works that delicious that you ignore the call for more space? Surely not.

Shortly after take off, he passed out. I sat there angrily, as presumably the only empty seat on this flight remained empty.

Would you have moved over? I genuinely don’t know the answer.
