Is it ok to start playing DnD as a DM? /u/Used_Cardiologist678 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

I’ve always wanted to play DnD as both a player and DM the problem is that I don’t have any close friends that is interested in DnD and most don’t even know what DnD is .But after a while I found some people who I consider friends but not really close who knows what DnD is and has a slight interest but they don’t really have an incentive in playing so I have to be the DM and create the characters as they find it to complicated my question is is it ok to be a DM from the get go? All the storys I see on here have the DM be players with a couple months of experience and every video I see there’s always talk about DM like “if your confused ask the DM” or “you can always ask the DM” and I’m not sure I could answer their questions as I’m still just learning about the systems in DnD especially combat
