Is cotton cavalry twill a fabric with longevity? /u/bruhmomentodelol /r/malefashionadvice

As I’ve been learning more about men’s fashion and fabrics, I’ve heard a lot about vintage cotton garments, such as denim jackets and trousers, corduroys, and things like Burberry coats or Barbour jackets. Of particular note is these garments longevity, having been used for decades, and over multiple generations. However, I haven’t heard much about cotton cavalry twills achieving the same longevity or reusability over time.

I was wondering why this is? Is it due to properties of the fabric? Cost? What it’s commonly used in (ie types of garments)? Is cavalry twill not a long lasting fabric?

Sorry if it’s a weird question, honestly just curious and don’t know where else to post. Cheers!
