Do a lot of US citizens (and citizens of the rest of the world I guess) not have a passport? /u/candid_confusion5 No such thing as stupid questions

Bit of a random shower thought. I’m Scottish and have always had a passport and everyone I know has one. I’m assuming it’s based on whether you are able to travel in terms of money etc. but I was mainly asking about the US as I guess a lot of people who live in the US don’t really leave as it’s expensive to travel outwith.
