Dealing with a Player Who’s Uncomfortable with Game Content & Disruptive to Gameplay (Considering Resignation) /u/jamesw111111 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Hey everyone,

I’m facing a challenging situation with one of my players. During our session zero, I was upfront about the themes my games might explore, including mature content like sex, drug use, and other adult situations. I emphasized that these would be handled with sensitivity and that we would establish maintain lines and veils together to ensure everyone’s comfort.

However, in our recent game, which involved a party scene with naked people under the influence of drugs and alcohol, this player expressed discomfort multiple times. We adjusted the content accordingly, but she later confided that she was deeply uncomfortable with the entire scene.

This is frustrating because I was clear about the potential for mature content from the beginning.

Furthermore, this player has been a source of difficulty in the past. They have missed numerous sessions without notice and often fail to communicate with the group. During gameplay, they frequently appear distracted, drawing or on their phone, and often need reminders of what’s happening.

I’m considering discussing the possibility of this player resigning from the group, as I believe the current table dynamic may not be the best fit for them.

I’m unsure how to approach this situation. I want to discuss it with the other players to gauge their comfort level with the mature content and to get their input on the overall situation before addressing it directly with the player in question.

Any advice on how to navigate this situation gracefully would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I apologize for confusion caused in my initial writing. These lines and veils were discussed in session zero with all players present with group agreement gained.
