How does experience at a small startup compare to internships? /u/Frozen_Fire2478 CSCQ protests reddit

Hi guys, I’m a junior in college, and I have a question about the value of an experience I had working at a U.S. tech startup for 2 years.

This wasn’t an internship. I technically worked there as a software developer. It’s a small company that I doubt anyone here has heard of, but it’s still active and gave me some experience working on real projects. To be honest, the reason I was able to land this position was through connections.

I know that an internship at a more well-known company might carry more weight because of the name recognition. But I’m curious, how valuable would you say this kind of experience is compared to typical internships? I’m just trying to get a better sense of how my experience stacks up so I can better evaluate my situation.
