I introduced my in-laws to D&D, and it was awesome. /u/BisexualTeleriGirl DnD: Roll for Initiative!

I just finished DMing a one shot for my boyfriend and his parents. His parents had never even heard of D&D until I told them about it, and my boyfriend has only played once before.

I ran The Silvyr Tower for them (great adventure for first time players btw) and they loved it! I did all the character creation, all they did was tell me the classes and races they wanted to play and I did all the numbers. I was scared it would be boring for them, but they were instantly hooked. They even did something I didn’t expect them to, which was to almost skip the final encounter entirely by sneaking off with the magical artifact they’re there to find instead of fighting the monster for it.

There’s not much point to this post other than to vent about how happy I am with this one shot, but if you’re gonna DM for first time players I highly recommend The Silvyr Tower. It only requires the basic rules and is available for free online.
