Hello pewds, I am currently working as an IT engineer. I am from computer science and engineering background and I have graduated my master’s in 2023. I declined my private company offers from masters and joined the current company. But now I am in a dilemma to whether switch to another company or stay in the same company. The current company I work for is a public sector enterprise which is state owned. Pros of the job, there is job security, health benefits, in addition my current workplace is in one of the cities which is metro. Some of the cons include the hefty service agreement amount, low pay, I feel as wastage of my potential to contribute more, stable/low growth, I am 27 years old to add to that I seek refugee in this community for advice and suggestions. Please let me know if I should make a switch or stay in this company for the long term. I am also interested in research and innovation if I would want to make a switch please suggest some companies which could be starting point of my career or how should I approach if I had to switch career to R&D industry in computer science field. I have three and half years of industry experience. If suggestion is to do PhD, I have previously been enrolled in it and discontinued since I got a job. Any suggestions would be really appreciated as I am really confused although this seems simple.
