Should I participate in a hackathon as part of the job application process? /u/Zelda_Galadriel CSCQ protests reddit

I’m a new CS grad that just graduated in December and I’ve been looking for jobs for months now. I recently interviewed for a position at a startup, and I was invited to participate in a 4 day remote hackathon going from Saturday to Tuesday, with presentations on Wednesday. I’ve never done a hackathon before mostly because it sounds like a miserable time to me, I’m not someone who does well without sleep. And I woke up pretty sick today too. But it also feels dumb to throw away any opportunity I can get, even if I really don’t want to participate.
