Would a house made of bricks be fire resistant and if so why don’t Californians build their houses out of it? /u/kanniboo No such thing as stupid questions

I can’t help but notice in the pictures of burnt down houses that the chimneys are still intact. This made me wonder why don’t they just build the houses made out of the same material as the chimneys?
