Whython? Help me /u/Adventurous_Ad_4087 Python Education

The title was intentionally provocative, let me explain my situation; I am mainly involved in BI reporting. I am trying to change jobs, but everywhere I look python and SQL are required (amongst the other competences). For SQL I have a background in my previous work experiences, but for python zero, never used it. Every time I try to study it I get bogged down because I have no practical applications in my current job and so the cycle continues indefinitely (pun intended).

How can I proceed?
