Why do bad feelings feel worse at night? /u/smallboibs No such thing as stupid questions

Like if you feel a little bit bad during the day, you feel truly awful at night. Why does this happen? I hypothesized that it’s because your brain is less distracted, so it can focus better on the bad things, but it happens even if you’re up doing something.
