What software/tools are worth looking into for the average user on steam? /u/SilicaBags Steam on Reddit

Been on steam for 16 years and over that time I have purchased a good amount of games, but no software. I have plenty of programs that run outside of steam to help like Flawless Widescreen or Special K. What are some programs on steam that can give me some of the upsides of utility programs like those or maybe have some functionality that I didn’t know I needed?
