The dreaded “updating executable” issue /u/fieldday1982 Steam on Reddit

Linked up w/ a buddy on Discord/steam the other night to play Xcom, the new(er) one, enemy unknown. For both of us it was just bad…saying updating executable, and nothing happens….and was happening to most of my games.

On my laptop (will eventually try w/ my desktop, same issue, but its older and figured I start w/ my newer laptop, I uninstalled everything, including steam itself, doublechecked to make sure the actual games folders were gone, and reinstalled most games. 7days, vrising, poker championship work fine. Not so much w/ Civ5, and Xcom.

Through my research I’m seeing a lot of folks w/ this isse on Civ5.

Anyone know of a fix yet ? … I was really getting back into Xcom
