My 9 year old is being followed at school by another 9 year and it is causing problems, including death threats. /u/Still_View_8824 No such thing as stupid questions

This has been going on since the start of the school year. The child follows mine around the playground during breaks. My child has asked him to leave him alone several times but he wont stop and it is causing a lot of stress. The biggest issue is the child has been a bully in the past years and has bullied my son’s friends. My son was the one to get him to stop bullying one friend not the school. Yesterday I got a text from the mom of the child that follows mine because her son was threatened with death twice from a boy(8) that hangs out with mine. This happened in front of my child. She is rightfully upset because the threats involved knifes and guns and she told me her son considers my son his best friend and he is really upset that my son said nothing at the time. My child was questioned by the principle yesterday and he mentioned he did not want to be followed anymore and the principle told him if he needed a break to go sit in the office. I don’t think this is fair. When I asked my son about the threats he said he knew it was wrong but he said his two friends are very frustrated because this child will not stop following them. I want to talk to the principle about this but I don’t know what I should say. I don’t know if I should bring it up with the mother. My son is a really nice boy and gets along with most people he meets and this is stressing him out. Also how worried should I be about the 8 year old that threatened violence?
