If you had the opportunity to make a deal with a devil, would you? /u/Tayraur DnD: Roll for Initiative!

Context: I’m trying to curate content for my player’s first session here in a few weeks. All or their characters have been sent to Avernus for some crime/act they committed in their past life.

When the game begins, they will come face to face with their patrons or a devil of my choosing, who will offer them their heart’s desire in exchange for something in return, that may permanently lead them to owning their soul.

I’m trying to think up different scenarios. Some will obviously choose to return back to the material plane. Others I’m thinking may want to ascend deeper through the realms of Hell.

Regardless of what happens, the devil is only offering them a collective deal. What other methods do you think one might seek?

They also have the option to not make a deal at all, and continue their escape at a much harder route.
