New job. Engineering. Want to stand out as professional /u/Black_Eye_Stone /r/malefashionadvice

I’m starting a new job with the DOD Civ as a high ranking engineering type job. Similar roles at this installation have widely varying dress, from jeans and polo to slacks and a button down. I’m young for the role and the rank so I want to make a good impression while standing out as taking it seriously.

My go to is in this situation would be some more rugged black pants and a white button down with mid forearm rolled sleeves. I could wear that every day to be honest.

I was thinking of stepping it up and looking nicer. Maybe wearing a more rugged khaki pants with a navy sports coat but am worried that may be “over the top”. A suit sure would be.

I’m in analysis paralysis. Please advise!!
