My fiancé and I are tying the knot on June 6, 2025 and are well underway with planning. I just asked my guy friends to be in my party last week (slightly late, I know) and need to get moving on attire & fitting appointments.
For groomsman, we’re pretty well decided on 2 pieces with black jacket/pants, white shirts, and black ties (skipping the whole “match your colors with your date” thing). For me, we’re thinking same thing, minus the tie. I’m a fan of the no tie look assuming the jacket + shirt are fitted properly. I’ll have a boutonnière pinned to my jacket, with an assortment of colorful wildflowers to match my fiancé’s bouquet. Thinking that’ll be a nice pop against the plain black/white attire. I’m a watch collector as well, and although it’ll likely be something subtle, that’s still another accessory that’ll be peeking out.
So, my questions from here…
• I’m seeing strong opinions against black suits on this sub, especially for summer, but we really like the look (compared to tan, navy, grey, etc). Our venue’s indoors with A/C, so thinking it’s okay so long as we use a summer fabric… right?
• For shoes, I kinda like the idea of dressy sneakers, whether just for me or for my guys as well… thoughts? Should we wear the EXACT same shoes, or can mine vary slightly?
• As far as the actual suit, should I just order a nice brand online (ex: Spier McKay, Oliver Wicks, etc) and bring to a local tailor for alterations? or hit up the tailor first and see what options they have?
• The no tie thing… is that too informal? Frankly I’m already reconsidering as I type this, but would love thoughts
