I was on my 3rd playthrough, 600th hours in this game, and I just killed a lady /u/Vermille Red Dead Redemption

It was a stormy night with thunder and heavy rain. My full honor, TB-ridden Arthur arrived at Riggs station by horse to deliver a stack of cigarette cards. After I did my business I saw a lady wearing a white dress sitting by herself on a bench outside.

“Hello ma’am.”

“Why hello there sir”

Then I had an impulse to rob her.

“Now give me all your money, ma’am”

The lady stood up and looked horrified, she squealed “please mister, my husband doesnt allow me to bring valuables.”

I pressed ‘threaten’ button, Arthur grabbed her by the collar and screamed “now, goddammit!”

The lady was scared shitless and gave me 1.32 USD, she said “here, this is all I have, my husband doesn’t let me carry so much money”

I never heard that dialogue before. Her pleading was so believable I decided to let her go, but my finger slipped and my Arthur ended up choking her. It was an honest button press mistake, a thing which I very rarely do in-game.

She kneeled and made a gurgling sound as Arthur’s hands wrapped around her throat and then died a few seconds later. I was flabbergasted. No one saw me kill her. My only consequences was that little ding of my reduced honor and somehow the thunder kept getting louder and louder.

I stood in front of her lifeless body for a considerably long time. I had murdered thousands of people in-game, some, like I said, by accidental button press like this, but I never felt the same as I did when I ended her. It’s like I killed a real person by accident and I just made some guy out there a widower.

Then when I regain control of myself, I looted her body (and there goes another ding sound). There’s nothing more. She was an honest woman. I hid her corpse in a bush not too far from the station and order a ticket to Saint Denis. The ticket price was way more than what I stole from her but I just want to get away from there as far as possible. The rain still pours and then the loading scenery started as usual when the train departs.

This moment happened a week ago and goes through my head randomly from time to time. I don’t know why I decided to put it in this sub, maybe I want to get it off my chest somehow…
