How to add any game you want to steam to use remotely through steam link! /u/aceandduce Steam on Reddit

I’ve spent a reasonable amount of time figuring this out recently so I am going to share here in hopes that someone else doesn’t have to spend as much time doing so.

To add a large majority of games from various launchers (Epic, GOG, Uplay, EA, Battle net and many others) I’ve found the easiest way to do so is to use “origin steam overlay launcher”. The instructions are very well written and I find that you’ll only need to refer to the wiki once and you’ll then understand how to import games from that source. To be clear I am not sponsored by this or a developer in any way it’s just the best solve I’ve found.

This is however not always required, you can often as in the case of emulators, browser games, and mod managers use command line arguments. To do so, you simply add the executable to steam as a non steam game use the commands in the launch options section (I will include examples at the end). The specific commands will vary from program to program but I am happy to help anyone in the comments here solve how to add any tricky ones In the case of browser games I’ve found for most browsers you can use the same arguments based on your preference.

Examples

For a browser game

Executable Selected: Whatever browser you use

launch options: –new-window “yourgameURL.com”

You can also do the following for a full screen window with limited interactivity (you’ll have to close it via steam or alt+f4).

launch options: –kiosk “yourgameURL.com”

For a modded game (in this case Mod Organizer 2)

Executable Selected: Mod Organizer 2

Launch Options: “moshortcut://NAMEOFYOURGAMEINSTANCE:NameOfExecutableYou’llBeRunning”

As an example

Launch Options: “moshortcut://Skyrim ModPlayground:skse64_loader”

If you have any questions I am more than happy to answer and share this knowledge I’ve painstakingly gotten. The only downside to this is that any custom images you upload for your non-steam games are only on the device you upload them. I hope that at some point they get uploaded to your steam cloud so you can have them on every device you use steam link with.

TLDR: Generally you can add most games with Origin Steam Overlay Launcher though it won’t work for everything and command line options are your other choice if the associated launcher has them.
