A random act of kindness from a now-deleted user /u/hello_casper Singapore

Just wanted to say Thank you, to a now deleted user

This is a bit weird.. but I wanted to give a huge shoutout to this deleted user from a few years ago during circuit breaker, who recommended me this book by John Bradshaw, Home Coming. You even DM-ed me with the PDFs (I eventually bought the book), but this random act of kindness really saved me during those difficult times. I honestly didn’t expect any kindness and empathy from a random Reddit user, let alone helpful resources to use for handling narcissistic parents, & you even shared your personal stories too!

Well if you’re reading this, I’m doing better now. I’ve been regularly going to therapy for 3 years, understanding my own trauma and continuously working on myself. I really did take your advice seriously! I’ve come really far since then and I’m slowly finding my own nirvana. So I just wanted to let you know I’m grateful for that small act of kindness, and know that I think of you every now and then. Thank you so much kind stranger.

I still have really bad days and breakdowns, I still live with my abusive toxic-ass family (thankfully with minimal communication and I’m moving out soon). But I’m handling it so much better now than ever before, drawing boundaries with them and learning to walk away from people who do not value you.

For anyone who’s going through something similar or can’t get out just yet, you are not alone. You will be surprised just like how I was 3 years ago, from my innocuous complaints that turned into valuable lifelong advice that I cherish now. If you ask for help, people will go out of their way to help you. All you have to do is ask, or for my case just complain on the SG daily chat hahaha!
