Very noob question. Is there a difference between learning python in general, and learning for scripting/automation? /u/Own_Home_356 Python Education

I’ve been in a NOC role for a while now and want to move up towards other Operation roles. My current job never had me do any scripting at all but all the other roles I am looking at require scripting with either Python, bash, or powershell

Is there a difference between learning coding for dev vs. automation? I am wondering how hard/long it would take to be decent enough with scripting to apply for more jobs. I know for a dev there isn’t really an answer for the question but for my specific case idk

Thanks yall and happy new years!
