A while ago i got started on a big excel spreadsheet for this company i work for to track metrics. i started adding fancy things to my sheet such as VBA scripts and such that helped with automated email reports. but after using it for a while i have found that i just needed it to do more. i had been using chat GPT to help with some of the VBA scripts and such. which than gave me the idea to use Chat to simply create an entire new program in python for my company.
At this point I am familiar with how python works, and like maybe the bare minimum of the actual scripts but i wouldn’t go that far, but chat has taken my so far in just the couple days i have been using it. i understand people have issues when they ask for full scripts from chat as there is more room for error. but i found if i just ask it to go piece by piece it does fine. and i plan to continue to use it to finish up this program, if the response to this post is positive.
So to wrap this up. I’m beginning to get worried that a few things may happen
- one day this program may be a nightmare to improve due to maybe chat not building the code in the most successful way.
- I have no idea how to use this script as a program after I’m done. can i make this downloadable for other computers? i have no clue but for now its doing good.
- im going to get to a point of chat just not being able to keep up, and it will just stop being able to give me successful scripts to continue building, i currently have the backbones built and i have a landing page, and a login system, but idk if it could keep up.
So does anyone have any recommendations? should i stop before i waste to mush time? should i keep going? does anyone want to look at what i have to see if this script is barely alive? Thank you guys!
