I’ve noticed something about myself lately, whenever I go for walks in the park, I end up talking out loud to myself as if I’m delivering a lecture to a whole audience. It’s not just random mumbling, I’ll imagine I’m explaining a topic in detail, going step by step, almost like I’m rehearsing a speech no one asked me to give, holding up my phone camera can make me appear less crazy talking to myself. At home, I also catch myself narrating the simplest chores, like I’m on a cooking show or some kind of reality TV, guiding myself through the process.
What’s interesting is how much this helps me think through whatever’s on my mind. It’s almost like I’m brainstorming out loud, and I find solutions more quickly when I explain things to my imaginary listener. Sometimes I wonder if anyone else does this too, or if the park-goers think I’m losing it.
Do you ever catch yourself talking out loud, giving lectures to yourself on walks, or narrating your daily tasks? If so, does it help you concentrate, or make you feel more confident? I’m curious to hear other people’s experiences
