Why do a lot of people get mad when people like different things than they do? /u/RaspberryRootbeer No such thing as stupid questions

For example, if someone likes salad dressing on their salad, and someone doesn’t, why does it matter if one likes salad dressing and the other doesn’t? They’re not eating each other’s salads.

Also if someone doesn’t like a popular movie, or they like an unpopular movie, it’s their opinion, that’s why there’s movie review scores and different genres.

The majority of my friends are horror movie lovers, I hate horror movies, but I don’t care that they liked them, I even watch them with them sometimes even though I don’t like them, I still like my friends, and I like hanging out with them.

Their preferences don’t have to be the same as mine for us to be friends, and if we’re not friends, why would I care?

Is it a supply and demand thing? Do people think that if people don’t like what they like, then it’ll go out of popularity, demand will go down, and therefore supply will go down?

Or is it like a social thing?
