Question about save transferring from other stores to steam. /u/squarecicle Steam on Reddit

Is that a thing? I’ve been split between playing on steam and on Xbox for years and I want to fully just go over to steam, but I’m wondering how file transferring works, if it’s a thing at all.

For example, can I transfer save data on games that I have hundreds or thousands of hours in like Sea of Thieves, Elden Ring, Hitman WOA etc on Xbox onto steam? I don’t mind if I have to buy the game a second time, but will I be able to resume playing these games as I have been?

And if so, what information actually goes over? I guess the only important part is the actual save data, but will things like hours or achievements transfer?
