Are privacy phone screen protectors rude to the people around you? /u/47handfulsofbees No such thing as stupid questions

I recently bought one for my phone because, even though I’m never doing anything I shouldn’t, I just get really anxious and uncomfortable about people looking at my phone over my shoulder or watching my phone activity while near/next to me.

One of my housemates noticed it today and started saying things to me like, “It’s really not normal to have a privacy screen, that’s like government spy behavior.” “It’s really offensive that you have a privacy screen.”

I don’t know if I should feel ashamed to have been told that. I don’t regret it because having the screen does help me feel more at ease having my phone out, but he just made it seem like it was such an awful and rude thing to do. He already knew that I’m generally a private person in any case and has claimed to be okay with it. But, I don’t know, I’m feeling very conflicted and concerned about it now..
