Alatreon first solo kill discussion

So for context I am a longsword main, last year I unlocked all the special assignments to fight Fatalis. Which I decided to solo first because I enjoyed the fight more than the Alatreon fight at the time. Even though it took me what felt like 100 attempts, the camera panning out after a swing lands and watching him fall was a unbelievable feeling. Id put it above my fight with Isshin in Sekiro.

After crafting a full set of fatty gear for my LS build, I attempted Alatreon again with longsword and died about 15 times before giving up and focusing on AT velk.

I was feeling the itch to try something new and the frostcraft builds for GS and SnS looked really fun. I was also pretty decent at the velkhana fight already and sure enough I enjoyed the battle and and messed around with my new builds before taking a break.

Coming back this December I set out to finish the last 2 bosses I had not killed/solod yet before wilds next month. Being MR KT, and Alatreon. I think I was overgeared for KT because after 2 failed attempts and watching a quick guide I killed it in 2 more attempts. But the spectacle of the creature shedding valuable pieces like a iguana and running away, filling the room with lava, and getting more desperate the closer it was to dieing is something I vividly remember and enjoyed even though it wasn’t as challenging.

So after farming for some kjarr weapons I ended up with only a Ice GS. Now it was time for Alatreon. I remembered the fight feeling really annoying when I tried to use safi gear the first time. So I went with a super comfy fatty armor build and thought with the practice I had before I’d still get topples. I was correct and it only took me about 5 tries but the feeling of the kill wasn’t there.

Safijiva, hiding behind the rock as the roof caves in and the floor blows up. Fatalis, the crazy good music after the dragonator and the entire arena being pretty much covered in fire at that point. Raging brachy limping away for the first time, and then locking you in his arena for a 1v1 deathbattle. I could go on with many more but…

I felt nothing when I beat Alatreon. No really memorable moves, nothing special about the arena. The only cool move was judgement but I found myself staring at my radial and health the entire time instead of watching the actual attack.

Thought I’d start up a discussion about favorite fights, or hopefully not that many fights you didn’t enjoy. Am I weird for not liking the alatreon fight? Researching seems 50/50, you either hate it or love it. Would love to hear from people what made them like the Alatreon fight!
