Is it weird that I don’t care about getting an engagement ring? /u/xxhunnybunny No such thing as stupid questions

My husband and I eloped. In fact, we never “got engaged.” We’ve been together for 6 1/2 years, married for a year and half. Our families were elated, everything is amazing with our marriage.

When we eloped, we bought some cheap place holder rings for until we get our real bands. I have a silver wedding band with nothing else.

But thing is…. I don’t want anything else. I’m not really one for jewelry, especially stones. I am VERY simple. I’ve found a couple that I like, but I don’t know. It just isn’t really my cup of tea. It just doesn’t seem THAT important to me. Like I’m almost adverse to it at this point. I have no problem wearing a ring as a symbol of our marriage, but why do we need to spend a bunch of money on something I don’t really even want???

My husband is willing to do whatever I want to do, he will check in every couple of months to see if anything’s changed. It never does. I have asked him if this bothers him and he says it doesn’t. Other women really look at me like I’m insane, and I also feel like people think my husband is slacking when that’s literally not the case.

Does anyone else feel this way? Am I being weird?
