Gf advice not to wear sweatpants bc my penis looks small /u/Alternative-Abies769 No such thing as stupid questions

I was 26M and she was 24F at the time. Now I’m 41M and she is 39F.

I had a favorite pair of sweatpants that I loved wearing. They were so comfortable that l often wore them without underwear. At the time, I had no idea they were revealing—| was completely oblivious. This was before social media, so I wasn’t aware of how noticeable such things could be. Apparently, though, it was something women tended to notice, because one evening, my girlfriend (now wife) asked me to stop wearing my grey sweatpants in public. When I asked her why, she mentioned seeing some girls staring at me earlier that day but didn’t go into much detail. I kept pressing her, and she finally explained that the sweatpants made the outline of my package very visible.

I didn’t believe her at first, insisting she must be mistaken, but she was adamant. She admitted that she liked it because she could see it herself, but after seeing those girls staring and laughing, she realized it wasn’t just her who noticed. When I kept brushing it off, she got frustrated and blurted out, “Look, they were laughing because they could see the outline of your small penis. They even made gestures with their fingers to show how small it looked.” I was mortified—it was the first time she’d ever said anything like that. To make it worse, her sister had overheard the entire conversation. Now, as my sister-in-law, she occasionally brings it up, jokingly saying things like, “Remember when you were banned from wearing sweatpants?” while laughing a bit too hard. I always couldn’t help but wonder if she brings it up because she thought I had a small penis or something, given how much amusement she seemed to get out of bringing up. I always wanted to know until one day I unfortunately got my answer

At new years sister-in-law told the story in front of a group of friends and made a not-so-subtle joke, saying something like, “Those sweatpants weren’t exactly flattering—not much to show off, if you know what I mean.” The women in the group burst out laughing, and it was obvious everyone understood the implication. It was clearly a small penis joke at my expense.

She didn’t mention that my wife had pointed it out at the time or that the girls had made small penis gestures, which definitely would have been more damaging. Instead, it seemed like she was implying that she had personally noticed it, I guess.

Part of me feels like the damage is already done—she was pretty drunk, and it was just a joke about something that happened a long time ago. I have to admit, the way she told the story was pretty funny, and the women were practically on the floor laughing.

But another part of me thinks, wow, that was really mean. I’m torn about whether I should bring it up or just let it go. Isn’t that embarrassing for my wife, especially since her closest friends were there? Or maybe they’ll assume she just added the small penis joke for humor and that it’s not actually true. Though, she never actually said she was joking. Do the women at the party now think I have a small penis because of this?
