Should all women’s restrooms have tampons? /u/Gai_InKognito No such thing as stupid questions

I’m male, but I’ve been in bathrooms in the past where Ive seen condoms [mostly at bars and clubs] and others where I’ve seen Tampons, but that was awhile ago… But I was under the assumption this was still the case.

I recently got into a conversation with someone on their period and she was asking if I could take her to the store. I said something along the lines of “Cant you just go to the bathroom and grab something”, and I was informed they dont have those types of products in the bathroom regularly.

This threw me for a loop. If I walk into a restroom, I would expect them to meet my sanitary needs. Thats mostly toilet paper for obvious reasons, soap to wash my hand, something to dry my hands, a baby changing station in some, and if I’m lucky, seat covers. I assumed women’s restrooms would have all those and tampon or similar products, as I imagine a woman’s period is a shared experience among most women and tampons would fall under sanitary needs

Why arent there tampons in the bathroom?
Is this just a political thing? or a financial thing? Wouldnt it benefit all women to have these products readily available?
Sorry if this is such a random question, I was just honestly perplexed this wasnt a thing.
